On Friday evening in St Louis we all went out for a meal. We sat at tables outside a restaurant and unfortunately below a squirrel nest (drey). This became obvious when twigs and leaves started to be dropped onto us, seemingly on purpose. Fearing the worst (organic Nutella !) I took precautions and alerted our fellow bikers:

Journeyed on through undulating to hilly countryside - the region generally known as the Ozarks. A mixture of woodland and some agriculture with a strong hint of Hillbilly country.
Novel feature - the largest 'Rocker' on Route 66, outside a souvenir store.
Dave having a close encounter:
BigH and Bear
Dave on the porch with Steve - our tour leader.
Lunch Venue. The distant sound of banjos hastened our departure (see music clip 1 below).
Classic car
Another classic car rally near Joplin.
A Sunbeam Alpine a long way from home
Route 66 vintage petrol station.
After a long day and 300 miles, reached our hotel in Joplin. An excellent steak dinner and a couple of beers (it is Saturday you know) - and so to bed.
