Set off at 8 am as usual.  Clear sky but a hint of cloud in the distance.  We stopped at a bridge on the original Route 66 in the 10 miles or so it ran through the State of Kansas.

We wanted to call in on a motorbike museum in Miami, Oklahoma but got there too eary.
Instead we had a comfort stop at a buffalo ranch and saw some real live buffalos:

Great ride along mainly country 'a' roads.  Another stop to see the blue whale built by a chap for his wife.:

The clouds brewed into a storm with rain and hail (but no donner and blitzen - or any of the other of Santa's reindeer).

Arrived Oklahoma City (managed to find a photo of it looking 'oh so pretty' as in the song, courtesy of the internet.

So according to the mileometer on the bile we have done about 850 miles since leaving Chicago.  See map below.

Tomorrow we are off to Amarillo (if we can find the way - geddit ?).  It was pretty much in the middle of the 1930s dust bowl area - as per Grapes of Wrath.  Not sure there is any residual visual evidence - but worth looking out for it.  Red on the map below shows core dust bowl area.
